About the Event
The New Phoenix Theatre on the Park announces the fifth offering of its Sunday showcase series entitled, “New Works at New Phoenix” with a reading of the new play “Hoarding Hope”, written by Kerrykate Abel-Smith. The performance will take place Sunday, March 8th, at 2:30.
“New Works at New Phoenix” showcases area playwrights, actors, musicians, writers, and poets. The “Pay-What-You- Can” program has been developed to make new WNY arts programming accessible to all.
“Hoarding Hope”, written by area actor, writer and educator, Kerrykate Abel-Smith will be read by actors Marie Costa and William Meyer and directed by Ms. Abel-Smith. The play portrays a nurse on her passionate drive to ensure equal care for those who are victims of the AIDS crisis in NYC at its height. It is a stunning depiction of those who were on the front lines of the medical, social, and political fight for all affected by AIDS during this critical period in America, and the world.
